Through the creation of Parent Mental Trainer (PMT), Mental Training, Inc. has single-handedly provided parents with the opportunity to understand their athlete through online mental skills training and has revolutionized the child-parent sport dynamic.
Previously, customized mental skills training was only available to coaches (CMC) and athletes (OMT), however, Mental Training, Inc. (MTI) has completed the parent-athlete-coach triad through the offering of mental skills training to each party involved in the sport experience. MTI has created a web-based mental course with content supported by research from the lead researchers at Michigan State University’s Institute for the Study of Youth Sports. The growing need in the sport industry for appropriate parental involvement in the sport training process prompted MTI to develop this revolutionary tool. Sections in the course include proper parent roles as an athlete moves through the stages of development, positive support, and emotion control on the sidelines. Ultimately, PMT is the perfect resource to more effectively provide what every parent wants; what is best for their children.
As a coach and parent, Dr. Bob Neff, Founder and CEO of MTI, knows how frustrating it can be to watch your child struggle. He states that, “the course has been designed to help parents effectively encourage and support their child and recognize when they become negative and over-controlling. PMT is meant to be convenient, affordable, clear, and effective.”
Video lessons and a discussion forum are included in the course to allow parents to share ideas, comments, and concerns with other parents and MTI’s Certified Mental Trainers®. PMT’s user-friendly interface and concise lessons makes it ideal for a parent with an unsurprisingly busy schedule to work through the course efficiently without sacrificing needed, relevant information. Upon completion of the course, a certification document is awarded to each parent.
